my Hole Hawg and auger bits collect a lot more dust on the shelf. Fortunately, replacements to fill the set back out are readily available for a reasonable price so it's not too big a deal.
They seem to drill much faster than regular spade bits and leave reasonably clean exit holes. I used these bits to bore through studs for rough wiring.
Where a nail hit will simply "wound" a regular spade bit without spurs (which can usually be re-sharpened), accidentally hitting a nail with one of these will snap both spurs off in an instant. I was pleasantly surprised with how well they hold their edge after hundreds of holes.
Unfortunately, they don't hold up at all if you hit a hidden nail. Since I combined this set with 6" and 12" hex extensions.
The bullet-proof case is a nice extra addition to a solid set of bits.
One bit overheated and became dull on me when I unknowingly went through a layer of stucco so you got to be careful what you're drilling through. Cuts really fast, a lot fast than hole saw bits though not as clean. I used it to bore some holes on wall studs to lay some plumbing lines and it did the job. Overall, nice sturdy case, decent bits, affordable price, a winner for me. I also own a set of irwin cobalt drill bits with a similar case.
Great basic spade bit set in a sturdy protective case. They seem to be a bit quicker at drilling then average spades. Good Set, Get It. Makes for a good Christmas gift also.
